Brief biography:

Dr. Heike Platter, International Relations

Heike Platter was born in Bolzano, South Tyrol (I), into a multilingual and multicultural society. She studied marketing at the WerbeAcademy in Vienna (A) and then went on to do English/American studies and media communication in France, Germany and the USA. Holding a doctorate in American studies, she has worked as a journalist for many domestic and foreign media.

In 2000, she began working in the wine world, doing international marketing and communications. From 2006-2019, she was the marketing director of the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle, and as such responsible for the strategic development of the botanical gardens and for positioning this unique attraction as a magnet for visitors to Merano, South Tyrol. An advocate for high quality standards in garden tourism, she was a founding member of the International Garden Tourism Network, where she currently serves as Secretary, and helped found the European Garden Association–Natur im Garten International. As the Italian delegate to the World Tulip Association she works to promote the tulip as a symbol of friendship between nations (and gardens). Since May 2019 she has been holding a staff position for Organizational Development and Communication, Corporate and Brand Strategy with the parent company of the Gardens, the Provincial Properties Agency (Agenzia Demanio provinciale), and as such continues to network internationally the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle.
